The importance of Growth Hormone

Growth hormone is a type of hormone produced by the pituitary gland. It has important functions for both children and adults with different roles.

♦️ In children
Growth Hormone is responsible for the growth of children. Helps to increase muscles and bones. Children with growth hormone disorders, both in terms of production and sensitivity, have abnormal development such as short stature, small body, and no muscles. May have obesity from the accumulation of a lot of body fat. Boys have a small penis and sound like a girl. Severe cases may have a disproportionate face and may find cleft lip and cleft palate. However, it was found that these children will have normal intelligence like normal children.

♦️ In adults
Growth hormone performs many important functions, including:
– Helps the body repair process.
– Improves muscle mass and performance.
– Regulate energy metabolism.
– Helps reduce the accumulation of fat.
– Helps to strengthen the immune system.
– Promotes in recovery from injury or illness
– Anti-aging effects.

Symptoms of adults with growth hormone deficiency.
– Hair loss, thinning hair, gray hair.
– wrinkled skin, premature aging.
– Muscular atrophy, lack of strength.
– Accumulated fat on the body look like an apple shape
– Easily tired, not active.
– Decreased sexual performance.
– Easy to get sick, easy to get infected.
– Slow recovery from injury, slow wound healing.
– Poor memory, poor sleep.

Normally, growth hormone is produced during childhood – adolescence and will gradually decrease at the age of 25. However, we can support our growth hormone production is by doing the following actions:
Sleep : Sleep no later than 10 p.m. because this is the time when the body is able to produce the most growth hormone and should sleep at least 7-8 hours per night.
Exercise : Exercise helps the growth hormone produce better. Especially high-intensity exercise, such as weight lifting, fast running, interval training, or circuit training. This reduces body fat and this type of exercise causes the body to release growth hormones to repair muscles.
Diet : Reduce eating foods high in sugar and starch because insulin inhibits the production of growth hormones.
Intermittent fasting (IF) diet has been found to increase the secretion of growth hormone in the short term by 2-3 times than normal.
Reducing body fat : found that the body fat mass decreased makes the production of growth hormone better.
Reducing stress: Stress causes the body to release the hormone cortisol which inhibits the secretion of growth hormone.
Refrain from smoking and drinking all kinds of alcohol.
Properly taking supplements that promote the production of growth hormones such as Arginine, Glutamine, Ornithine, etc.

However, growth hormone deficiency is complex in determining the cause and treatment, so you should consult your doctor for an effective and safe individualized treatment.
